The midfielder initially linked up with the B Team at Ibrox, having signed a three-year deal with last season’s Europa League finalists in July last year.

McCann made the brave decision to leave the Red Devils in his quest to pursue first-team football elsewhere.

Having made his sixth first-team appearance under Van Bronckhorst, McCann’s decision to leave Manchester United looks to be paying off at this stage.

In yesterday’s clash against Dundee United, McCann came out on top of the clash which saw him come up against his former Manchester United academy teammate Dylan Levitt.

The pair played 15 times together across the United youth sides.

Having made his first start for Rangers, McCann will no doubt be hoping to make his European bow for the Champions League side.

Coventry City manager gives his verdict on Hannibal Mejbri role in red card

Mark Robins believes Hannibal played a starring role in Gustavo Hamer’s second red card in five games, which came in the latter stages of yesterday’s 0-0 draw between Birmingham City and Coventry City at St Andrew’s.

The Manchester United loanee came off the Blues bench for the fourth consecutive game and it didn’t take him long to get involved in the game’s most controversial moment.

While Robins was not happy with Hamer, Coventry’s manager felt the Tunisia international played a huge part in his player’s sending off.

Speaking via BirminghamLive, Robins said on the incident: “I didn’t see it in real time.

“I have seen it subsequently and it looked to me like Mejbri has grabbed hold of his legs, grabbed hold of him and then rolled and he’s done whatever he has done and you can’t really see from what I have looked at.

“But the eagle-eyed officials have seen it and seen fit to send him off. And it’s violent conduct so he misses four games.”

The former Monaco starlet has been called-up to the Tunisia squad for this month’s international fixtures and the 19-year-old will be hoping to build on his 16 caps.
