Lucy Mecklenburgh reveals her son Roman, 2, is in hospital battling a virus

Lucy Mecklenburgh rushes son Roman, 2, to hospital as he battles a virus – almost a year to the day he was discovered ‘blue in his cot’

Lucy Mecklenburgh has updated fans on her son Roman’s health, revealing he is battling a virus – almost a year to the day that he was discovered ‘blue in his cot’.

The reality star previously told how her little boy spent a week in intensive care last September and put on a ventilator describing it as ‘every parents worst nightmare.’

The TV favourite, 31, who shares her son with former Corrie actor Ryan Thomas, revealed on Sunday that Roman is back in hospital but reassured fans the two-year-old is on the mend and just needed ‘some help’ to fight off the sickness.

The mother-of-two took Roman to get urgent medical treatment once again after picking up an infection in preschool.

Taking to her Instagram Story, the former TOWIE star shared a snap of the toddler in a hospital ward with the cubicle curtains drawn.

Captioning the snap she pondered: ‘Meant to be on a beach. Whyyy did I send Roman to preschool this week?’

She then went on to reassure fans that Roman was on the mend and explained: ‘He’s fine he just sometimes needs some help fighting viruses. Nebuliser, oxygen, steroids, antibiotics. Bless him, wish I’d kept him off preschool and got him to the sunshine sooner.’

Last year Roman spent nearly a week in intensive care and was diagnosed with a ‘viral induced wheeze’.

Lucy wrote at the time: ‘As some of you may have noticed we haven’t been on social media lately. Just over a week ago I found Roman blue in his cot – probably every parent’s worst nightmare.

‘Without going into two much detail it ended up with Roman being transferred to St Mary’s London intensive care being put on a ventilator. Thankfully we are now all home and Roman is back to his cheeky self.’

Lucy said the experience has made her want to get involved with charities for sick children and the hospital where Roman was taken.

Lucy is also mother to daughter Lilah, three months, who suffered a health scare of her own last month when she was rushed to hospital and put on oxygen after becoming ‘really poorly’ with bronchiolitis.

Lilah contracted bronchiolitis from Roman, who picked the condition up at pre-school, and suffered from ‘coughing and choking’ before being rushed to hospital.

The health update comes after the fitness guru candidly revealed the realities of her post-pregnancy body in a Q&A with her Instagram followers earlier this month saying she struggles to find the time to exercise just like most other people.

The television star revealed that she had gone up two dress sizes and her busy life rarely leaves time to exercise – although she has made her peace with it.

During the chat one follower asked ‘Are you back to your pre-pregnancy weight? Do you exercise? diet? I don’t like like me anymore’.

Lucy agreed writing: ‘ I understand, so many changes to our bodies so quickly it can feel like I’m unfamiliar with my body sometimes’.

‘I have wider hips a bigger tummy and boobs and two dress sizes bigger than before Lilah’.

She continued: ‘I’m around one stone heavier than before but try not to weigh myself a lot. I rarely have time for exercise but I love post natal pilates. I try to walk a few times a week and run around after a toddler all day haha’.

‘Diet wise I have started to try and eat how I used to as much as possible mainly for energy and to feel good’.

She concluded: ‘Bath cooking helps and quick simple meals everyone in the house will eat. I don’t follow a restrictive diet just balance and variety’.
