Seahawks vs. 49ers score: Live updates, game stats, highlights for NFC West bout in Week 2; Trey Lance injured

The San Francisco 49ers lead the division rival Seattle Seahawks 20-0 at the half, but they lost their starting quarterback for a potentially significant length of time.

Trey Lance was injured midway through the first quarter, and eventually was carted off the field with an air cast on his right leg. The Niners quickly ruled him out with an ankle injury, and he was replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo. Lance was 2 of 3 for 30 yards and had three carries for 11 yards prior to the injury, which came on that third carry, deep in Seahawks territory. San Francisco kicked its second field goal of the game to end that drive, and Garoppolo later found Ross Dwelley for a 38-yard touchdown as the 49ers quickly extended their lead to two scores. A muffed punt that saw two Seahawks collide with each other led to San Francisco’s second touchdown of the afternoon.

After playing a nearly perfect game against the Broncos last Monday, Geno Smith was more contained in the first half of this one. He tried to force a throw into tight coverage, only to get it tipped and intercepted. He later almost had another pass picked over the middle. He did have a long completion on a flea flicker taken away by an ineligible man downfield penalty, but he was not as sharp in the first half of this contest as he was the other night. Seattle had a chance to score late in the first half, but a trick play went south when running back DeeJay Dallas was intercepted as he tried to find DK Metcalf in the back of the end zone.

Will Jimmy G help get San Francisco get back in the win column, or will Seattle pull off a comeback and make it a surprising 2-0 start? We’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, keep it locked to our live blog throughout the second half as we update you with stats, scores, and highlights.
